Closing Keynote: How Will AI Impact Filmmaking?

Generative AI has been increasingly employed, especially in the film and television business. With her UCLA computer science degree and her decades of experience in the film business, filmmaker and author Justine Bateman has rung the bell in the press during the WGA negotiations and has also served as the AI advisor to the SAG negotiations. In this closing keynote, she’ll talk about AI’s impact on artists in the film business, as well as other businesses, and what's on the other side of it all.

Writer, director, producer, and author Justine Bateman’s career spans many projects. Her best-selling books include “Fame” and “Face.” She has an impressive acting resume that includes “Family Ties,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Arrested Development,” and many more, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination and two Emmy nominations. An advocate for Net Neutrality and vocal about combatting the growing concerns of AI in Hollywood, she holds a degree from UCLA in Computer Science and Digital Media Management. Justine wrote and produced her short film debut, Five Minutes, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival and screened at other festivals including the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival. It was one of the winners of the 2019 Amazon Prime Video Direct Festival Stars Program and was chosen by both Short of the Week and Vimeo’s Staff Picks. Her follow-up film short was the drama, “PUSH.”
