Film Pittsburgh Fall 2025 Internship

Film Pittsburgh, a nonprofit arts organization, is seeking an intern for Fall 2025 to work with our team on social media, publicity, and festival outreach. This internship will mainly take place in person in our Edgewood office with the potential for some limited hours conducted remotely. 

We are in search of a team player who is highly motivated, self-directed, comfortable interacting with the public, and eager to play an integral role on a dynamic team. 

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Marketing & Communications Manager to implement and execute social media strategies and website updates
  • Working with the Director of Community Engagement for community partner outreach, including connecting with local university students
  • Working with the Director of Operations to provide administrative support
  • Assisting with box office sales and guest services during film festivals and events

Our small team works closely together, often lending a hand in many capacities during peak times. 

Qualifications

  • An interest in independent film
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • An ability to work independently
  • Capable of working across operational divisions, depending on need
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Canva
  • Social content development/branding experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of website content management is a plus
  • Film Pittsburgh is an events-based organization, so the ability to work evenings and weekends during festivals is required

Teen Screen Internship

Teen Screen, a program of Film Pittsburgh, seeks an intern for the summer/fall to work with our team on marketing research, film curation, and curriculum development. This is a remote position with the opportunity for in-person meetings or festival work for local candidates.

We are looking for someone with experience at the intersection of film and education, who is also adept at data management and writing for student audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Director and Assistant Director on ongoing outreach and curriculum projects
  • Helping to build and manage our user database and reach new teachers
  • Assisting in screening and selecting new films (especially shorts) for our roster
  • Collaborating on new teaching guides, researching and writing about recently acquired films, and updating older teaching materials
  • Assisting with box office sales and guest services during film festivals and events (in the fall)

Qualifications

  • 5 or more hours of availability per week
  • Interests in independent film and education
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Experience using MS Excel and Word to maintain databases and write collaboratively 
  • Area knowledge in one or more of our key subjects is a plus: Civil & Human Rights, the Holocaust, Appalachian Culture, Environmental Science, and Cultural Diversity
