Censored Voices
Pittsburgh Premiere

Straight from its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, this searing documentary reveals personal reflections by Israeli soldiers immediately following Israel’s victory in the 1967 War. While the national celebration is on-going, Amos Oz and Avrahim Shapira audio-record the young men who divulge their conflicting emotions, proud to serve their country, yet disillusioned with the moral and ethical ambiguities of war. As a result of governmental censorship of the content being lifted, we hear the tapes for the first time as do the servicemen who recorded them some 50 years ago. More an in-depth look at the effects of war than a political igniter, Censored Voices exposes the underbelly of war from those who have been on the front line.
