Seventeen-year-old Ola suddenly becomes the head of her family after her estranged father dies abroad. At the insistence of her mother, she sets off to Ireland to retrieve the body and bring it back to Poland. Looking to collect on a promise her father made before his death, her trip becomes an odyssey of sorts in which the people she meets force her to reconsider the way she sees the world. In the process, Ola finally gets to know the father who had been largely absent in her life and discovers things are not always what they seem. A piercing, realistic look at the difficulties faced by families separated by emigration with a striking performance by Zofia Stafiej as Ola, I Never Cry is a sensitive and darkly funny coming of age story.
