Jockey
Pittsburgh Premiere

Clifton Collins Jr. turns in a stellar performance as Jackson Silva, an aging jockey hoping to win one last title for his longtime trainer in this horse racing drama. As Silva struggles to overcome the pain from his aging and injury riddled body, his life is further complicated by the arrival of a young rookie rider. Filmed at Turf Paradise, an active thoroughbred racetrack in Arizona, director Clint Bentley uses the real-life setting and Collins’ award-winning performance to deliver an incredibly compelling story of life on the backside. A character driven tale that eschews the oft used against all odds plot that drives most horse-racing films, Jockey gives viewers a realistic view of what life is really like at a thoroughbred racetrack.
