Rakel, a 23-year-old graphic design dropout, faces a personal crisis when she discovers way too late that she’s six months pregnant after a not-so-romantic one-night stand. Finding limited choices about how to proceed, she develops a love-hate relationship with her fetus (who appears as an animated character she dubs “Ninjababy”) as she grapples with a changing view of who she thought she would become. Infused with a witty and sensitive love story, director Yngvild Sve Flikke’s dramedy has unapologetic, uncompromising things to say about women choosing – or choosing not to – have children. The award-winning film based on an acclaimed graphic novel by Inga Sætre, has earned rave reviews for its star, Kristine Kujath Thorp.
