In a retro-futuristic, tropical-punk twist on Dante's Inferno, a group of misfits converges at Babel, a legendary dive bar that doubles as purgatory, where La Flaca—the city’s Grim Reaper—presides. We see Dante, recently freed from his contract with death; Monet, a ghost desperate to return to his body; Jacob, who is caught between his orthodox upbringing and his passion for drag; and Timbí and Uma who must travel through the circles of hell to save the people they love. El Boticaro, the devil himself, and Erato, a fallen angel, act as the omniscient narrators of this world.
Steeping us in the intoxicating brew of a Colombian steampunk fever dream, first-time feature director Gala del Sol creates a mesmerizing, fantastical world where life and death collide and fates turn on the roll of a die.
This film won the International Juried Award for Best Feature at the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival.
