The Seed of the Sacred Fig
Pittsburgh Premiere

In this electric, political thriller, a family’s dynamic is forever changed when its patriarch rises to a position of political power in Tehran. As a student protest movement sweeps the country and the government cracks down with tougher sanctions, Iman sides with the regime, much to his daughters' displeasure, causing a rift in the family that his wife attempts to fix. Following the disappearance of Iman’s gun, paranoia sets in, and he doesn’t know who to believe. Directed by filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof, who was forced to flee to Germany to escape persecution for speaking out against the Iranian government, this stunning film is Germany’s submission to the Oscars for Best International Feature Film.
