Ajami
Following our sold-out screening of “Ajami” at the Jewcy Film Series in January, the Festival brings back the 2009 Israeli film of the year. It is a "Crash"-like drama that links several seemingly unconnected violent incidents into an emotionally compelling tale of life among Israel's young Arabs and Jews. Set in Ajami, the mixed Jewish-Arab neighborhood of Jaffa, the film deals with conflicts not only between Jews and Arabs but also between Christians and Muslims. Drugs, clan murders, illegal workers and corrupt police all mesh in this gripping tale. Co-directed by Palestinian Scandar Copti and Israeli Yaron Shani. (Adult content)
