In 1977, Israel was a country in need of a miracle. The Yom Kippur War, the tragedy at the Munich Olympics and rampant inflation had left a heavy weight on the Israeli psyche. When the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team—comprised of Israeli players and former NBA talents—suddenly blossomed, it gave the country a reason to smile again. Their run at the European Championship Tournament united Israel, as the young team defied the odds. This triumphant, well-crafted documentary retells this exciting time, when Israel was suddenly “on the map!”
