Hana's film career is on the rise. Her journalist husband, Emil, watches as his Jewish wife captures the hearts of Czech filmgoers. But when the Nazis invade Czechoslovakia, Hana's star falls and Emil's rises when he joins a Prague radio station and agrees to broadcast Nazi propaganda to save his wife.
