FILMS
While films about euthanasia are not new (think 2013 Academy Award winner Amour) none have the darkly humorous touch of this fictional film, The Farewell Party. A group of senior citizens take matters into their own hands when one of them is being kept alive by the hospital against his wishes. Navigating the murky waters of a controversial subject, with ethical questions and emotional complications arising, the filmmakers add just the right amount of humor and pathos, while utilizing the significant talent of many of Israel’s finest veteran actors.
Winner – Best Actor and Best Cinematography – Israeli Academy Awards
