The Last Laugh
Pittsburgh Premiere

Will the Holocaust ever be an appropriate subject for comedy? Filmmaker Ferne Pearlstein poses this tough question to a pantheon of comedians, including Mel Brooks, Rob Reiner, Sarah Silverman, and Chris Rock, as well as Holocaust survivors and prominent Jewish leaders. Through interviews, movie clips, stand-up comedy, and even footage seized from the Nazis of cabarets performed by prisoners inside concentration camps, Pearlstein’s provocative documentary pushes the outer limits of comedy and subjective taste.

Official Selection – Tribeca Film Festival

“In its own way, The Last Laugh is a celebration of Jewish humor, not just its importance as a survival technique, but also just how much it has shaped our culture.” Sheila O’Malley, RogerEbert.com
